Impotence and age Information: Question: Do most men experience impotence with age? Answer: Age does not imply impotence . Sexual responses become slower and less intense with age, and it may take longer to acheive an erection than in youth. However, the erection may be maintained for a longer period than in younger men. Impotence in the older adult is less likely to be a result of decreased testosterone (male sex hormone) but rather related to psycological factors, disease, chronic illness, or medications.
